It was designed to fire en-barbette over an 8 foot parapet with 17 degrees of elevation to 5 degrees of depression
and to allow a recoil of 8 feet.

The 10-inch BL on the Easton and Anderson Mounting was trialed at Shoeburyness. The above pictures show the barrel being dismounted in 1897. (Photos Navy and Army Illustrated 1897)
