'Screw Gun' 2.5inch R.M.L. Mountain Gun at Firepower Museum of Artillery, Woolwich.
Intended to replace the 7-pounder this gun was designed to be broken down and transported by mule.
It was used in the Second Boer War (1899–1902) on the standard mountain gun carriage, and also with the Natal Field Battery at Elandslaagte at Kimberley on field carriages with larger wheels giving greater mobility.
