Just came across a very interesting set of photos on flickr in a collection by James Dore. Photos are Victorian taken on Isle of Wight but among them are numerous images of RML guns being unshipped and moved around the Sandown area. Also photos of garrison troops and cavalry on apparent training exercise. A number of the islands forts can be recognised in the background to a lot of the shots and there is an unusual shot of the Old Needles battery with some sort of screen around it. There are some 240 images to sift through but its well worth a look if you haven't all ready seen them.
